Tokai JAZZ Bass made in 1978-80 with EMS pickups (Active) Fretless modified.
It is fair condition 1978-80 made Tokai Jazz bass.
I don't purchase modified guitars, but this modification is fine for Tokai
bass.
2 PUs are replaced with EMG. These are active PU. The battery is located
under control plate.
The fretless modification was done very well. I guess it made by professional
repair people.
The brdge is also changed to Badass. It is good, I like.
The neck is fine, the truss rod is workable. The nut width is 38.8 mm.
The body material should be Sen (Japanese Ash) 2-3p, a bit heavy weight
(4.2Kg).
Generally good condition bass.
I found the a bit crack on finger board around 18-20 fret center. It would not be trouble.
If you really feel bad for this, I recommend you to put small amount of
bond with Rose wood powder.
It is should be O.K. Nothing special beside this.
The sound, it is good JB tone. No Noise and more sustain, I felt.
If you will play the good melody, this bass shows you very good tone!
